Seder `Avodat Yisrael, a full Jewish prayer book according to the Ashkenazic custom with extensive commentary and supplements, edited by Seligman (Isaac) Baer. This edition of the Ashkenazic liturgy by Baer served as the basis for many important editions of the prayer book that were published susequently in later generations.
This item was scanned by the National Library of Israel from a copy in its holdings (here).
Baer published his liturgy in two editions: One according to the "western" branch of the Ashkenazic rite (="Minhag Ashkenaz", i.e. the custom of the Jews in Germany), and one according to its "eastern" branch (=Minhag Polin, i.e. the custom of the Jews in Poland and Lithuania). This scan is of the edition which contains the "eastern" branch (Minhag Polin). The bulk of the book is identical in both editions. The only differences are in the Hoshanot (pp. 369-381 in both editions), and in the liturgical poems beginning with Seliḥot (pp. 589-740 in the "western" edition and pp. 589-804 in the "eastern" edition). Following that, Baer's edition of Psalms is identical in all editions (pp. 1-88 at the back of the book). For the parallel 1868 edition with the "western" branch see here.
There was a 1901 reprint of this edition (according to Minhag Polin), scans of which may be found here and here.
Other liturgical publications by Baer include Piyyutei Yoẓer va-Ofan for Sabbaths with German translation (1862, German custom and Polish custom), whose Hebrew content is included within the present volume along with a commentary; Ha-Seliḥot le-Khol ha-Shanah (1865); Divrei ha-Berit on customs and prayers for a circumcision (1874); Toẓe'ot Ḥayyim on customs and prayers for illness and mourning (1872; 1894, 1900); Kinnot for the Ninth of Av (Polish custom 1875 and German custom 1893).
